Lowering the back of an air-cooled vw can be done by removing the spring plate and simply putting it back on in a different place. Easy right? If only it were that simple. The rather genius design of the torsion bar means that incremental changes are near infinite, as are the amount of ways you can get it wrong and not match up side to side. Adjustable spring plate make it a breeze to lower and fine tune your rear end ride height, and importantly to match corner to corner. They also have the added benefit of not having to clearance any of the torsion bar housing unless you are going extreme.
